Volunteer positions

 

Below are the four main types of TGH volunteers. However, we are always looking for people with other skills to offer. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at volunteer@techgoeshome.org.

Purpose: Assist participants as they learn how their new devices and the Internet can improve their lives

 

Volunteer Role: Supporting beginner Internet users

 

Commitment: Depends on individual course schedule, often 2-4 hours per week over 4-8 weeks

 

Training Necessary: Attend a TGH Orientation & Training

 

Skills Necessary: Ability to explain concepts, comfort using the Internet, patience and a sense of humor!

 

Location: On program site in a Greater Boston neighborhood

PurposeHelp Bostonians use TGH, regardless of language barriers

 

Volunteer RoleSimilar to Tech Squad, but also translating

 

CommitmentDepends on individual course schedule, often 2-4 hours per week over 4-8 weeks

 

Training NecessaryAttend a TGH Orientation & Training

 

Skills NecessaryLanguage fluency, comfort using the Internet, ability to explain concepts, patience and a sense of humor!

 

LocationOn program site in Greater Boston neighborhood

Purpose: Enhance TGH Small Business trainings for local micro-business owners

 

Volunteer Role: Guest lecturer, course assistant

 

Commitment: Depends on volunteer availability and course need

 

Training Necessary: Attend a TGH Orientation & Training

Skills Necessary: Ability to explain concepts well; expertise relating to a small business topic such as financial literacy, taxes, small business law and regulations, social media marketing, networking, e-commerce, etc.

 

Location: On program site in a Greater Boston neighborhood
